Contador now ranked number one

The Spanish cyclist Alberto Contador has taken over the world number one road ranking following his third victory in the Tour de France yesterday.

Contador, who was fourth going into the Tour, has displaced the Australian Cadel Evans who has slipped to third.

Another Spaniard Joaquin Rodriguez has also leapfrogged Evans to take second place.

Tour de France runner-up Andy Schleck of Luxembourg has climbed impressively from 57th to sixth.

New Zealander Greg Henderson has slipped from 30 to 37 after not riding the Tour, while Julian Dean, who recorded 3 podium finishes on the French classic has jumped from 110 to 76.
