The Governor of American Samoa Togiola Tulafono has highlighted challenges of the current economic environment for the territories.

Togiola was speaking at this week's Interior Department Business Conference in Honolulu.

He says the federal government is dealing with issues that the territories deal with on a regular basis, adding that American Samoa will emerge from this stronger than it has before.

Togiola went on to discuss the advantages of operating a business in American Samoa, as well as highlighting some of the prime opportunities in the territory.

These included projects related to the newly landed fiber optic cable, development of the marina, redevelopment of the tramway cable car in Pago Pago harbour, and marine resource development.
