Dunedin City Council has revealed the Forsyth Barr Stadium has cost $266.4 million to build.
The council originally told ratepayers the stadium would cost about $200 million, but that escalated to $224 million after it ran over budget.
A new report commissioned by the council shows an additional $42 million of stadium-related costs; money spent on such things as redirecting roads and getting legal advice.
Chief executive Paul Orders says the council commissioned the report to ensure the funding of the stadium is transparent.
"I think that's even more important in that instance that we bring the information together in one place so that ratepayers can judge for themselves about the costs associated with the project."
Mr Orders said some of the additional money highlighted in the report came from central Government, not ratepayers.
For example, central Government provided $16 million to realign State Highway 88.
