The person who died after becoming trapped under their work vehicle in Wellington yesterday was a New Zealand Post employee.
Police believe a vehicle rolled down a small bank and trapped the person just before 2.30pm yesterday in the suburb of Tawa.
NZ Post chief executive David Walsh said the organisation is devastated to lose a team member in the tragic accident.
Walsh said their thoughts are with family, colleagues and the wider NZ Post team at this difficult time.
In a statement, police say a serious crash unit is investigating and no further information will be released until enquiries have been completed.
The incident has also been referred to WorkSafe.
