One person is dead and one is injured after a crash between a car and a truck in Christchurch.

The collision happened just after 10am on the corner of Main South Road and Foremans Road in the suburb of Hornby, one of the busiest intersections in the city.
Police said the road, which is the main route south from the city, will be closed in both directions for at least three hours while the Serious Crash Unit investigates.
They are asking motorists to avoid the area.
A St John spokesperson said one person was taken to hospital in a moderate condition.
