The legal wrangle between Whale Oil blogger Cameron Slater and the media has been adjourned for two weeks.
The media are seeking security of costs against Mr Slater, while the blogger is asking for his emails to be returned.
In the meantime, the organisations have agreed to hold back on publishing personal details about Mr Slater, gleaned from his emails and private Facebook messages.
The deal means the blogger's application for an injunction against publishing the hacked communications has been dropped.
The agreement does not relate to information already leaked to the media or included in Nicky Hager's book Dirty Politics.
