Just one flight has been able to land this morning at Wellington Airport, where dense fog blanketed the runway.
The fog, which forced the cancellation of many flights in and out of Wellington since Tuesday afternoon, has finally lifted, and planes have started landing and taking off.
Wellington Airport said normal operations had resumed but there would be delays for the rest of the day as airlines caught up on their schedules.
An airport spokesperson said more than 60 flights in and out were cancelled today.
Between 11am and midday, just one flight, NZ8190 from Timaru, touched down.
It was one of just a handful of flights into the capital since the fog descended at about 4pm on Tuesday afternoon.
The airport advised passengers to check with their airlines for updates and monitor the live flight information on its website.
