Toyota has recalled 2.27 million vehicles globally over an airbag system defect that could cause fires.
Toyota New Zealand says about 5000 Corolla, Avensis and Picnic models sold from 2000 to 2005 could be affected.
A company spokesperson said on Wednesday that owners of those models who had their airbags replaced after a similar recall in April last year do not need to respond.
In just the past two months, the Japanese carmaker has recalled about nine million vehicles.
