New buildings are under construction at the Nauru detention centre just three weeks after a riot and fire that caused damage estimated at $A68 million.
Most asylum-seekers held there are now accommodated in a second temporary camp and building work is reported to have begun on a third detention centre on the island.
A boat carrying 50 asylum seekers and two crew arrived near Christmas Island at the weekend. The ABC reports they were transferred to the island for health and identity checks.
