Labour Party foreign affairs spokesperson Phil Goff has accused the Government of undermining New Zealand's independent foreign policy.
Mr Goff says the current National-led Government appears more willing to bow to the demands of big powers than the previous Labour-led Government was.
He says there's nothing wrong with having close and warm relations with the United States, but people are questioning whether the Government would have the guts to say no to a request made by the US or any other big power.
Mr Goff also criticised the Government for cutting its spending on aid.
