The Papua New Guinea Prime Minister, Peter O'Neill, says the PNG Parliament will have to endorse the Bougainville referendum whatever the outcome.
The National newspaper reports Mr O'Neill told parliament he has instructed the Minister for Bougainville Affairs to present a ministerial statement so PNG is aware of what the situation is on the ground in Bougainville.
He said everyone had to respect the Peace Agreement.
Mr O'Neill claims the two governments he has led have done more for Bougainville than any previous government.
