The Solomon Islands prime minister, Dr Derek Sikua, says he has the support of his ministers and won't step down.
He made the comment during the debate of a motion to adjourn parliament until November the 12th and amid calls for him to relinquish his leadership.
Among his critics is Sir Baddeley Devesi, the first governor general after independence before becoming a government minister, who claims someone else than Dr Sikua has been running the country.
Dr Sikua says he wanted an adjournment not because of any rift but to complete work on some bills.
