ETS major concern for tomato growers

20:20 pm on 27 July 2011

Fresh tomato growers in Rotorua for their annual conference are concerned that the Government will double their carbon tax charges.

Chairman Wim Zwart says the cost of the Emissions Trading Scheme is the biggest issue facing growers.

He says one grower is paying $60,000 a year, but only gets back $9,000 in allocations.

Mr Zwart says he hopes a review being carried out by the Government will result in the charges being held rather than doubled as is intended.
