Michael Leask and Richie Berrington combined for a crucial 91-run stand for the sixth wicket before Leask was dismissed for 58, with Berrington reaching his century including 15 boundaries, before he was finally stumped by PNG skipper Assad Vala for 129 off 297 balls.
Safyaan Sharif added a valuable 25 runs to his efforts with the ball on day one, while Mark Watt was 61 not out at stumps at Amini Park, with Scotland holding a first innings lead of 78 runs and the match headed for a draw.

The Scots, winless in the first five rounds of the Intercontinental Cup, earn six points for holding a first-innings lead, with three points for a draw and 14 for an outright win still up for grabs on the final day.
Mahuru Dai was the pick of the Barramundis' bowlers on a difficult day for the home side, taking 3 for 91 off a massive 37 overs while Chad Soper returned figures for 2 for 54.
