Outdoor apparel and equipment retailer Kathmandu has launched its latest collection at Paris Fashion Week, as part of its global expansion plans.

KMD Brands, which owns Kathmandu, Oboz, and RipCurl brands, signalled the expansion plans when it announced its full-year result last month.

"Heading into FY23, the group is well capitalised and I'm excited by the opportunities ahead as we invest in the long-term expansion of our global house of brands, and build a truly unique global business headquartered in Australia and New Zealand," chief executive Michael Daly said.

In a market statement, Kathmandu global chief customer officer Eva Barrett said the collaboration with France-based retailer LeClaireur heralded the start of the brand launch in select specialist retailers in Britain, Ireland, France, Germany and Canada, with a United States launch to follow next year.

The plan was to have 10 flagship stores in large cities with an already-active outdoor population, such as Vancouver, Munich, and Denver.

The initial launch period was focused on building e-commerce and wholesale distribution alongside continued growth in Australia and New Zealand.

"We're Australia and New Zealand's favourite outdoor brand, and we look forward to seeing outdoor enthusiasts around the world discover our innovative and sustainable gear," Barrett said.
