The first phase of the 2020 US Census population count of American Samoa kicks off tomorrow.
Field workers will visit every village in American Samoa to identify and list location and descriptions of all housing units, and every type of living quarters found in the territory.
American Samoa does not have street addresses so the work is very important before the actual population count gets underway in late March of this year.
Commerce department director Keniseli Lafaele said that it was critical that census field workers received everyone's support and co-operation.
He said that information collected from villages must be accurate and complete, in order to successfully conduct census interviews in March.
American Samoa and US Census officials asked for the public's support, particularly the assistance of village councils and mayors, for guidance throughout the villages and safety of field workers.
