The Chinese company behind a troubled casino development on Saipan has asked for another extension on a looming government deadline.
According to local media reports, Imperial Pacific International requested the deadline for its hotel-casino in Garapan be moved to December 2020.
The company had already requested an extension until December this year, out from the current due date of Friday.
Imperial Pacific said the deadline is impossible to meet because of unforseen immigration delays prompting a worker shortage.
In the past week, the company has announced a susbstantial profit loss and the exit of its chairperson.
Workers have also staged protests, directed at a company contracted by Imperial Pacific, over unpaid wages and fees.
Imperial Pacific did not respond to emailed questions relating to the deadline request.
