Two allegations of kidnapping earlier this month on Saipan have proved to be false, says the Northern Marianas Department of Public Safety.

Police said they uncovered a hoax after investigators looked further into the case and found the alleged victims had made up the story.
The departments got two separate reports of attempted kidnapping in the village of Dandan last week with claims a man in a car was trying to lure the children.
In 2018, an elementary school student alerted authorities to an attempted kidnapping that also turned out to be false.
