The union for Cadbury workers is confused by allegations it has breached the confidentiality of negotiations with the company's owner, it says.
E tū spokesman Neville Donaldson said Mondelez International has told media the union revealed confidential information at a protest rally against the proposed closure of the Dunedin factory.
However Mr Donaldson said the company has not contacted the union directly to specify what that information was.
"Claims of breaches of confidentiality need to be substantiated.
"It is really difficult to respond because I don't know what I'm responding to."
In a statement to RNZ, Mondelez said the company was disappointed the union shared information that should have remained confidential as part of its consultation process.
It did not say what the information was.
