The Papua New Guinea Police Task Force Team has arrested and charged two policemen with assault.
The assault allegedly occurred on 1 January and the officers were apprehended the following day.
They each face an additional charge of being in possession of a firearm while consuming alcohol.
The charges follow revelations that 15 officers have been jailed in Port Moresby in the past four months for offences including brutality, aiding prison escapees, and domestic violence.
The taskforce was established last year to clean up PNG's trouble-plagued police force.
