Manhattan School of Music graduate Tama Waipara says he is amazed at the talent he's finding via a New Zealand Music Commission project that gives students tuition from professional musicians.
He gives lessons to tamariki from rural schools, working through their songs and talking about what they need to pursue a music career.
He told Waatea News that raw talent is not enough, but it takes a little more nuture to make sure those kids knopw that further opportunities are open to them.
