Mt Eden Corrections Facility murder accused granted interim name suppression

An inmate charged with murder following the death of another inmate at Mt Eden Corrections Facility in Auckland has entered a not guilty plea and was granted interim name suppression.

Andrew Chan Chui, 39, of Ōtāhuhu, died at the facility on 27 September and was found with numerous injuries.

A 23-year-old was charged on Monday and appeared at the Auckland District Court through audio-visual link on Thursday afternoon.

He will remain in custody until next appearing in the Auckland High Court on 23 October.
