Auckland City FC began their OFC Champions League title defence in ominous form with a 7-0 thumping of AS Venus on Sunday at Trusts Arena.
And Fiji's Lautoka FC joined them as match day one winners in Group C with a 3-1 victory over Papua New Guinea's Madang FC.
Auckland were in dominant form from start to finish controlling the possession in typical fashion and starving the Tahitian representatives any sort of foothold in the match.
Auckland City coach Ramon Tribulietx was understandably pleased with the start to his side's pursuit of an eighth straight title.
Lautoka nestled into to second place in Group C, behind Auckland City on goal difference, with their 3-1 victory over a spirited Madang FC who threw off disruptions to their build-up to make the Fijian champions work for the three points.
The OFC Champions League resumes on Tuesday in Honiara with Team Wellington facing Lupe Ole Soaga and Marist squaring off against AS Magenta.
Group C's next matches in Auckland on Wednesday see AS Venus playing Lautoka FC and Auckland City FC taking on Madang FC.
