The Fijian Prime Minister will visit Australia later this week, less than a month after accusing Australia Prime Minister Scott Morrison of "insulting and condescending" behaviour.

Frank Bainimarama is expected to touch down on Thursday for a five-day state visit, which is due to include bilateral talks with his Australian counterpart.

His trip comes as the smoke is still settling on the political fireworks at the recent Pacific Islands Forum in Tuvalu, where Australia came under attack for its attitude to climate change.

AAP reports that despite the diplomatic blowback, Mr Morrison is confident the state visit will be a success.

He told reporters in Canberra "I have a wonderful relationship with Frank Bainimarama and I'm looking forward to seeing him again".
