A wanted man has been arrested after a police chase across the Kāpiti-Mana region on Tuesday.
Police inspector Renee Perkins described it as an "incredibly dangerous, fast-moving situation".
Police spotted the man driving in Waitangirua and began to pursue him though say the chase was abandoned on State Highway 59, Paremata "due to the vehicle travelling dangerously on the wrong side of the road".
The man continued to drive north and police used road spikes in Paekākāriki but he continued towards Kāpiti, took a car from a member of the public and then drove south on Transmission Gully.
As the man travelled south the Armed Offenders Squad were called the man was eventually stopped in Porirua and arrested.
