Spark picks up English premier football coverage

Telecommunications company Spark has picked up the rights to English Premier League football from next year.

Spark has the exclusive rights to three seasons of the Premier League from next August, and has also signed a deal to rebroadcast Manchester United TV.

The matches will be offered on a subscription basis over Spark's sport platform, to be launched next year.

Top English football matches are currently offered by a third-party on a various platforms including Sky Television.

This latest deal follows Spark's successful bid with TVNZ to secure the rights to next year's Rugby World Cup in Japan.
