The American Samoan Governor Togiola Tulafono will now be attending the UN Decolonisation seminar in New Caledonia.
The governor had announced earlier that he would not be attending because of the late arrival of the invitation from the State Department.
But his office has released a statement saying that the Governor had been contacted by the UN Committee requesting his attendance with a formal invitation.
Governor Togiola says he has gladly accepted the invitation.
