A 36-year-old man has been charged with aggravated burglary and assault after a woman was seriously injured in a break-in in the early hours of 27 June.
A man who entered a property in Auckland's Henderson was disturbed by the sole occupant of the house, and he assaulted her, police said.
The victim, aged in her 80s, was admitted to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Acting Detective Inspector Megan Goldie, of the Waitematā CIB, said police had found a person of interest on Thursday.
He was arrested due to officers' extensive inquiries and information from the public, she said.
He is due to appear in the Waitākere District Court on Thursday.
She thanked members of the community who had assisted police.
"We can reassure our locals and the wider public that police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter," Goldie said.
Police were also continuing to provide support to the victim.
"The female victim, who is in her 80s, is continuing to recover in a stable condition with her family."
