Residents of Auckland's Eden Park area are worried their properties will be damaged by intoxicated people attending a two-day sporting event at the stadium this weekend.
Up to 50,000 people could be going to the rugby league Nines, at the same time as the city hosts a hip-hop concert and its annual lantern festival.
People planning to go on from the league to an Eminem concert at Western Springs on Saturday night are being encouraged to walk there from Eden Park.
Eden Park Neighbours Association president Mark Donnelly said people need to be monitored as they leave the area to ensure families are kept safe.
He said residents have not been considered in security planning for the Nines.
Police say drunkenness will not be tolerated and officers will be stationed between the two events.
