The paper says Australians are contributing to rocketing house prices, with new research showing they bought more property than any other overseas group.

A Hamilton man's efforts to save a person trapped in a burning house in the suburb of Claudelands leads The Waikato Times.
Matthew Kreymborg said he smashed the bottom of the door of the house but the fire was just too hot for him to enter the building.

''Mayor's (light rail) dream runs off rails'' is the headline in The Dominion Post after it was priced at $940 million. Celia Wade-Brown has moved her support to a cheaper option of better bus services.
Also on the front page there is a story about New Zealand Post suspending deliveries to a Whitby house because its mailbox is considered a health and safety risk to posties.
