The police in Fiji have started a preliminary investigation into the Grace Road church group after its founder was arrested in South Korea.
Shin Ok-joo was detained at Seoul Airport last week, and has been charged with slavery and foreign exchange violations.
Up to 400 Korean followers are reported to have worked in Fiji, but South Korean authorities say their passports were confiscated and they're not being allowed to leave.
The church has extensive business interests in Fiji, including agriculture and retail, and it has been backed by several government ministers.
This afternoon, Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho told Fiji Village the force had been contacted by South Korean officials, and initial inquiries are underway.
The church believes an Armageddon is coming, and Fiji is the only place in the world that will escape it.
