The Speaker of the House has declared these areas smoke-free.

David Carter said there were thousands of people visited Parliament each year and he hoped the new policy would make their experience more enjoyable.

Areas behind Parliament are not covered by the smoke-free policy.

The government has a goal of a smoke-free New Zealand by 2025.
