Police in French Polynesia have seized a record 21 kilogrammes of methamphetamine.
The seizure follows a routine road stop in August when a man was arrested for possessing the drug which triggered a probe.
Five people were subsequently charged in connection with the find and last week another three people were linked to the case.
The seized drugs' street value is estimated to be $US21 million.
The prosecutor in Tahiti says methamphetamine is imported from the US where it is bought for between $US10 to $US30 a gram and then sold in Tahiti for $US1000.
Since the beginning of the year, 27 kilogrammes of the drug have been seized, implicating 45 people in a number of cases.
