Chinese, Indian, Maori-Chinese, Iranian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian and Tamil Eelam - just some of the ethnicities in Aotearoa represented in the ambitious feature film Kainga.

Culture 101’s Perlina Lau speaks about the importance of Pan-Asian representation on screen with Kainga’s producer Shuchi Kothari, writer Mei-Lin Te Puea Hansen, actor Katlyn Wong and writer and director Ghazaleh Golbakhsh.

The film itself features eight stories, each 10 minutes long, written and directed by 11 Pan-Asian women. Each centres around one house across several decades.

RNZ is hosting the film online. Watch Kainga here.
