Samoa's prime minister has appointed a first-term MP, Lopao'o Natanielu Mua, as his new agriculture and fisheries minister.

Lopao'o is a first-term MP in Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi's Human Rights Protection Party.

Before taking up the cabinet post, he chaired the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into public grievances against the Lands and Titles court.

At his swearing in ceremony, Tuilaepa told Lopao'o his roles and duties is to serve the public, not personal business or family interests.

Lopao'o replaces Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi Schmidt, who has resigned his portfolios after being charged obtaining money by deception.
