Police are appealing for more information after recovering a car linked to a death in central Auckland.
Clifford Umuhuri, 47, was found dead in Grafton following reports shots had been heard in Saint Johns on Monday morning.
Police have recovered a silver Nissan Skyline in an area of the Counties Manukau District.
Police said they had assembled a large team to work on the case, and were continuing to analyse CCTV footage.
They asked people to come forward if they had seen the car in St Johns or Glen Innes between 5.30am and 6.30am on Monday or have any further information.
"Anyone in the St Johns area that heard these shots or think they saw something - no matter how small - then they should contact us," Detective Inspector Lloyd Schmid said.
Umuhuri's body has been returned to his whānau after a karakia near the site of his death on Wednesday, which was attended by family and members of the police team.
A homicide investigation is under way.
Anyone with information was urged to call Auckland City Crime Squad on (09) 302 6557 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
