A man is in a critical condition after being hit on the head in an attack in Whangarei.
Police were called to the incident on William Jones Drive in Otangarei, at 3.45pm.
The man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police could not confirm if the attacker was known to the victim, or if a weapon was used.
No arrests have been made.
