New Caledonia's FLNKS to rotate spokesmanship

14:29 pm on 7 December 2010

A weekend congress of New Caledonia's pro-independence FLNKS Movement has decided to rotate the spokesmanship among its four member parties.

According to a report in Noumea's daily paper, the position will be passed on every three months in a change that ends the eight-year tenure of Victor Tutugoro.

The congress has also decided to strengthen the movement's politburo.

It resolved that by next year, the FLNKS will choose a president as the movement has gone without formal head since 2001 when Roch Wamytan quit the leadership.
