An Auckland principal says the years of waiting for his school to be rebuilt has been worth it, now that the Government has given the project the go-ahead.
It was announced this morning that at least 80 percent of Western Springs College's buildings would be replaced.
The $75 million to be spent on the school included the cost of a new gym and a new block for Nga Puna o Waiorea - the Maori immersion unit.
Principal Ken Havill said the current buildings suffered from mould, were at risk of subsidence, and needed modernising.
Work is expected to start by the end of next year.
