Police target drugs, organised crime

16:06 pm on 8 April 2015

Rehabilitation is a focus of a two-month police operation targeting drugs, gangs and organised crime in Canterbury.

Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Cottam said Operation Focus was targeting top-end drug manufacturers as well as dealers, people committing crime to fund drug habits and those buying stolen property illegally.

Mr Cottam said the police would also work with government and non-government organisations that provide rehabilitation.

He said simply talking to repeat offenders and supporting changes in their life can be effective.

The operation will run through April and May.
