Body found in Taranaki river search

Police have found a body in their search for a male who was swept away while crossing Waiwhakaiho River near New Plymouth this afternoon.

Police, search and rescue and ambulance workers had been searching for the male, who was found 200m from where he was last seen.

Police said they were working to formally identify the body and notify next of kin.
