Vanuatu's new Acting Deputy Commissioner of Labour is to investigate foreign companies that import workers to do jobs which ni-Vanuatu professionals are qualified to do.
Herve Kasten Ruru was appointed to his post this week by the Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Martin Mahe.
The Daily Post reports Mr Mahe saying Mr Kasten Ruru will be tasked with reviewing the work permits of all foreigners.
Mr Mahe says more and more ni-Vanuatu are returning home from university with qualifications but cannot find jobs
Vanuatu's labour law requires foreign companies to only hire foreigners for positions which can't be filled by locals.
