Over 1,000 people are reported to have sought shelter in evacuation centres in the Vanuatu provinces of Torba and Sanma during this week's Cyclone Oma.
The Daily Post newspaper reports the assessment report also shows that around 600 people at Hiu in the Torres Group are facing immediate food shortages after losing their gardens to the storm.
The local Red Cross has distributed tarpaulins, tools and kitchen sets to some of the affected people at Sola in Vanua Lava.
The assessment report urged for immediate food distribution to the low lying areas in the group.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Office said families at Norsup in Malekula were evacuated due to surges.
The office said around 500 people relocated to shelters there.
It said flash flooding on the west coast of Santo washed away gardens with around 76 households expecting food shortages as a result.
It estimated that over 11,000 people were exposed to high winds from Oma.
