A broken down truck is causing significant commuter delays on State Highway 1 north of Wellington.
The truck was blocking the southbound lane just south of Paekakariki Hill Road, affecting traffic in both directions.
The truck has now been moved, but motorists heading north were backed up through to Porirua and queues are expected to take some time to clear.
Paekakariki Hill Road, which is usually closed on Friday afternoons, has been kept open to allow light vehicles heading south to avoids delays on State Highway 1.
Waka Kotahi is advising motorists heading north out of Wellington towards Kapitito delay their travel if possible.
