A teenager has been charged with assault after an attack on another student at Greymouth High School.
Greymouth High School said the assault happened before class on Wednesday morning.
It said support is being provided to students and family.
Police said the victim was injured and needed medical treatment.
The teenager will reappear in the Greymouth Youth Court next week.
