Latest - Chelsea's stuttering start to the season continued as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at Southampton.

Raheem Sterling struck in the 23rd minute with his third goal in two games but Chelsea's lead was shortlived.

Romeo Lavia levelled five minutes later and Adam Armstrong then turned the match on its head in first-half stoppage time -- finishing superbly to round off a slick passing move by the hosts.

Chelsea, beaten at Leeds United in their previous away game, were unable to make much impression on a tireless Saints side in the second half despite plenty of possession.

Leeds and Everton drew 1-1 at Elland Road.

The draw leaves Leeds fifth in the table on eight points while Everton, who are still without a win this season, climb to 15th spot on three points.

Southampton's win moved them to seven points from five games, the same total as Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea.

Fulham are up to sixth after beating Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1 at Craven Cottage.

Brighton remain fourth on ten points but the loss brings to an end their nine-match unbeaten run, their longest in the Premier League.

Crystal Palace drew 1-1 with Brentford at Selhurst Park.

Brentford are ninth on six points, one point ahead of Palace.

Changes to Warriors lineup

Euan Aitken, Wayde Egan, Marcelo Montoya, Jesse Arthars and Rocco Berry all return to the Warriors lineup for their NRL season ending game against Gold Coast in Auckland on Saturday.

The sold-out encounter will also double as a farewell for Aitken and Arthars as well as fullback Reece Walsh, standoff Chanel Harris-Tavita and second rower Eliesa Katoa who all finish with the club this weekend.

Egan and Montoya were late injury withdrawals ahead of last Friday night's loss to Penrith while Aitken was unavailable for personal reasons.

Arthars and Berry return in a changed centres combination, replacing Viliami Vailea and Adam Pompey with Montoya back on the left wing spot he has filled most of the season.

First-choice hooker Egan is back in the #9 jersey with Aitken slotting straight back into the second row where he was initially named for the Penrith game.

Veteran halfback Shaun Johnson, replaced at halftime with a calf complaint last week, is set to start his 184th match for the club and his 22nd of the season-again teamed up in the halves with Tavita-Harris.

Bunty Afoa, named to start at loose forward, will achieve the distinction of being the only player to appear in each of the Warriors' 24 matches this season.

Cherries sack manager

Bournemouth manager Scott Parker has been sacked by the newly promoted Premier League club, three days after they were beaten 9-0 by Liverpool at Anfield for their third successive defeat.

"I would like to place on record my gratitude to Scott and his team for their efforts during their time with us," the club's owner, Maxim Demin, said in statement.

The club said the search for a new manager would begin immediately and that first team coach Gary O'Neil would take over in the interim.

Demin's comments appear to be a response to Parker's post-match interview at Anfield after the Premier League record-equalling defeat.

Parker said that he was "not surprised" at the result and that he need some new signings to strengthen his side, which had finished second in the second-tier Championship last season.

After winning their opening game of the season, at home to Aston Villa, the Cherries have suffered defeats in three straight games, but those fixtures came against Big Six opponents in Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

United sign Brazilian

Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Brazil winger Antony from Ajax Amsterdam.

Antony, who played under United manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax, registered 12 goals and 10 assists in 33 games in all competitions as the Dutch club won a third straight Eredivisie title and made the last 16 in the Champions League last term.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed but British media reported that it would be worth an initial $153 million, with a further $8 million pounds in add-ons for the 22-year-old.

Antony joined Amsterdam from Sao Paulo in February 2020 and played more than 80 times for Ajax, scoring 25 goals in total. He has also been capped nine times by Brazil since his debut in 2021, scoring twice.

He will become United's fifth close-season signing following the arrivals of Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro.

United are eighth in the Premier League standings with six points from four games so far.

Boks make 8 changes

South Africa coach Jacques Nienaber has made eight changes to his side for the Rugby Championship clash with Australia on Saturday, including a debut on the wing for teenage utility back Canan Moodie and a move to first five for Damian Willemse.

Nienaber was critical of his side's performance in the 25-17 loss to the Wallabies in Adelaide last weekend and has rung the changes for the game in Sydney, though his hand has been forced through injuries to a number of key players.

First five Handre Pollard, centre Lukhanyo Am and flanker Pieter-Steph du Toit have been ruled out by knee injuries, while replacement flyhalf Elton Jantjies has a hand problem.

That means a shift from fullback to flyhalf for Willemse, who is replaced in the number 15 jersey by the experienced Willie le Roux.

Jesse Kriel takes over from Am at centre and flanker Franco Mostert replaces Du Toit. Moodie comes in for Warrick Gelant and Jaden Hendrikse takes over from Faf de Klerk.

The other changes are in the pack as prop Steven Kitshoff and hooker Malcolm Marx replace Ox Nche and Joseph Dweba, while Jasper Wiese takes over at number eight from Duane Vermeulen.

Nienaber has come under pressure after an indifferent start to the 2022 season in which the Springboks have lost three of their six tests.

Evenepoel wins another stage

Belgian Remco Evenepoel won stage 10 of the Vuelta a Espana, a 30.9 kilometre individual time trial from Elche to Alicante, with a superb time of 33 minutes and 18 seconds to strengthen his grip on the red jersey.

The 22-year-old team rider was a staggering 48 seconds faster than reigning champion Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) who came second ahead of Evenepoel's Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl team mate Remi Cavagna who was a minute slower than the winner.

Victory meant Evenepoel also became the first Belgian rider to win an individual time trial stage of La Vuelta since Fons De Wolf in Valladolid in 1979. Jean-Luc Vandenbroucke had won the prologue in Benidorm in 1987.

Evenepoel leads Roglic by 2:41 in the general classification with Enric Mas (Movistar) third overall at 3:03.

Stage 11 is a 191.2km ride from Alhama de Murcia to Cabo de Gata.

Commanders player out of hospital

Washington Commanders rookie running back Brian Robinson is out of the hospital and will meet with team doctors today, just two days after being shot multiple times in an apparent robbery attempt.

Robinson was released from the hospital yesterday.

ESPN said the visit with the doctors will decide whether Robinson is placed on the non-football injury list, which would require him to miss the first four games of the 2022 season.

Robinson, 23, was taken to a Washington, D.C., hospital and underwent surgery after reportedly being shot in the glute and lower leg.

Commanders coach Ron Rivera told reporters that Robinson "is in a really good place" and would not rule out Robinson playing this season.

Robinson, a third-round pick earlier this year, rushed for 57 yards on 14 carries with one touchdown this preseason, adding two catches for 15 yards.

Mir to ride for Honda

Spaniard Joan Mir will ride for Repsol Honda alongside Marc Marquez after signing a two-year contract with the MotoGP team.

Mir switched team following Suzuki's decision to leave MotoGP at the end of the season due to financial reasons, which prompted fellow Spaniard Alex Rins to join Honda satellite outfit LCR Honda in 2023.

Honda described Mir as a "world champion-level talent" from his first full season in Moto3 in 2016.

Alongside two world titles, the 24-year-old Mir has won 12 grands prix and claimed 33 podium places.
