A redevelopment of Picton Harbour is back on the agenda now there is certainty over the future of interisland ferry services.

Plans to upgrade the existing facilities have been on hold while a proposal to move the ferries to Clifford Bay further east were discussed.

With the Government confirming ferry services will remain in Picton, Port Marlborough chief executive Ian McNabb said it was time to look ahead.

Mr McNabb said $100 million was being invested in Port Marlborough over the next decade and facilities for both ferry and container ships were set for a major upgrade.
