Samoa's Associate Minister of Tourism Amituanai Kenrick Samu has been charged with using offensive language, threatening words and being armed with a dangerous weapon.
The Samoa Observer reports Police Commissioner Fuiavailili Egon Keil has confirmed the charges against the associate minister.
Amituana'i, MP for Aleipata Itu I Luga, has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear in the District Court on 19 August.
The charges stem from an incident in Lalomanu over a land dispute.
A relative of the complainant said the associate minister swore and swung a hammer at the victim.
