Old water bore to be brought back into service

07:53 am on 24 January 2009

Wanganui District Council is to recommission an old water bore to help keep the city's water supply running.

One of the city's three major bore pumps has failed, forcing the district council to reduce water pressure and introduce a ban on sprinklers.

Chief executive Kevin Ross says Wanganui should be able to survive if the two remaining bores keep working.

The cause of the problem won't be known until at least Monday.
