The Black Caps are taking a mixture of youth and experience into the five-match one day series against Pakistan, starting tonight in Dubai.
With a long summer of cricket ahead New Zealand have chosen to rest the front line pace men Tim Southee and Trent Boult, although captain Kane Williamson seems happy with his remaining stock of bowlers.
"We've got some young blokes coming up that have a little bit of extra pace which is promising for the future, mixed with some experience at the moment as well with Kyle Mills, Vettori [Daniel Vettori], and McCullum [Nathan McCullum], who are all very experienced in the format that we're playing at the moment."
Opener Martin Guptill will miss tonight's opening game in Dubai as he's still suffering from a tight hamstring which kept him out of the second T20 international.
Meanwhile a decision is yet to be made on all-rounder Corey Anderson's availability for the match following being struck on the helmet in the first Twenty20 match.
